ART BROWN October 9, 1916 December 26, 2007 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved dad on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the age of 91 years. He will be so greatly missed by his daughter Derna (Lindsay), his son Ken (Leona) and some very special people: Gene, Susan (a real gem), Lynn and Joanne. Dad was born and grew up in Winnipeg. He worked for a moving company before enlisting in the army. During the Second World War he served with The Royal Winnipeg Rifles (Little Black Devils). He was part of the second wave that landed on Juno Beach in Normandy on D-Day, in June 1944. He was captured and served as a P.O.W. for one year. He was proud to fight for our freedom. Dad returned home to the love of his life, Susan (Rawlinson). They married and made their way to Pine Falls. Dad worked in the Paper Mill as an electrician for 31 years. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed curling and golf. When he could no longer play the game himself there was nothing he liked better than sitting in a comfortable chair and watching the Brier or the Masters. He was a proud, 40-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Dad had a lengthy stay in the Pine Falls Hospital. We will always hold close to our hearts the wonderful staff for the great care and compassion shown to him. In compliance with dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. In memory of dad, donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross, Red Cross House, 1111 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 0S8. Dad always said the care packages he received when he was a P.O.W. saved his life. You will be in my heart forever, A fine man, a true gentleman.
